ABOUT

Since graduating with an honours degree in Fine Art and History of Art from the National College of Art and Design in Dublin in the mid-eighties, Darina has worked prolifically and has exhibited extensively. She has also studied Jungian psychology and psychotherapy, which has influenced much of her later work featuring heads and mythic images.

Darina has had a number of one-person shows throughout Ireland, England and the USA in prestigious venues such as the Department of Arts, Culture and the Environment, and has participated in numerous group exhibitions, including a critically-acclaimed show sponsored by the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons at the United Nations in New York.

Her talent is widely recognised - awards include a three-month residency at Tyrone Guthrie Centre, Monaghan, a scholarship from the New York School of Visual Arts, and a merit prize from the Pantheon Gallery, Dublin. Darina's paintings have become popular among artists from other disciplines, including film director Neil Jordan and actress Julia Roberts, and she was included in The Sunday Tribune's list of Ireland's Ten Most Bankable Artists.
