David Apostol is an Australian fine art photographer currently based in Melbourne. David’s photographic career had its start photographing local sports events in Victoria for various publications and clients. Although he found this job rewarding, David ultimately felt that he would rather explore the more creative aspects of photography so, he turned his eye to creating fine art photography.
David prefers a hands-on approach to life and this is reflected in the way he creates his photographs, choosing to eschew digital processes in favour of traditional analogue techniques for capturing and printing photographs. His inspiration comes from an innate curiosity about the world and human nature. The images created as a result of this inquisitiveness express a desire to create a conduit between the artist and the viewer. Whatever the subject, every piece is a reflection on how he sees his inner and outer world. For this reason each individual photograph is laced with ambiguity, it is up to the viewer to complete the image with meaning.
In addition to photography, David has also opened a gallery space in Melbourne called Fly Little Bird Gallery which showcases art from emerging and established artists in an intimate and friendly space.
