Born and raised in Amesbury Wiltshire (which many will know is home to the famous Stonehenge), I currently live in Ilchester Somerset with my lovely wife Rebecca, my handsome son Jack and Rocky the dog.
Prior moving to Somerset, I spent 12 years living in Wrexham North Wales. For those of you who love the great outdoors, Wales is one of those places in the UK you have to visit.
Since I first picked up a camera at the age of eight, I have always had a passion for photography. My inspiration comes from my inner desire to capture the colour and beauty of a specific scene which if missed at that time, could be gone forever.
The advent of digital was a godsend to photographers like myself, in that the expensive film processing costs simply vanished overnight. We are now able to take an infinite number of photos in an effort to capture that perfect shot. Plus of course, digitalization has also allowed photographers to become super creative with their work.
Now retired from full-time employment, I am able to spend a lot more time doing what I love best....
My particular art is all about texture and colour. I use a process whereby the original photograph is digitally modified to create a unique and stunning style of Photo Art. Although this process creates a completely new and unique image, the content and composition of the original photograph remains ‘exactly the same’. This is an aspect of my work which I feel very strongly about. If you start changing the content of the original photograph, the reason why you took the photo in the first place and that ‘magic of the moment’, will be lost.
My artwork is applied to canvas using archive grade pigment inks and specialist matt varnish. I find canvas (aside from being extremely tough) provides the best texture and depth whilst the specialist inks and varnish deliver excellent light fastness and the all-important resistance to UV light.
The actual image size of my artwork is 24” x 16” (60.96mm x 40.64mm).
The UK is a truly beautiful place to live and I feel privileged to be able to express this in my artwork. It would be an absolute pleasure to be able to make my art available for the world to enjoy through Saatchi Art.
I offer frame options with all my artwork. Frame cost is included in the sale price of all my artwork. If you would rather have the artwork supplied unframed, this is not a problem. Simply advise of your border size requirements and the artwork will be prepared to your liking.
Holding exhibitions is a great way for customers to see my artwork in the flesh and speak directly to the artist. My last exhibition in Oct 2019, was held in Exeter Town Centre. Prior to this back in May 2019, I held an exhibition at my local Town Hall in Ilchester Somerset. This was great for the local community to see some popular scenes
plus some of my wider UK artwork. My next exhibition is due to take place in Spring 2020.
