Deborah Rhee

Deborah Rhee is an Australian born artist living in the USA. Working in oil and glaze for the past 20 years, recently adding mixed media to her visual language after a year spent experimenting with the process of art journaling.
This new addition has heavily informed her general arts practice and expanded her repertoire to include smaller canvas works now available to collect.

Deborah is inspired by the work of the New York School Abstract Expressionists and the environment in which she lives.
The NYS connection lies in the purity of exploring her mediums for the love of process as much as any final reading of the finished work, the latter influencing mood of the canvas as much as her palette.
Having lived in the USA for 9 years and in 3 different states (TX, CA and WA respectively) it has been interesting to note the changes in the Fog Series reflect the change between light California fog that rolls like an unfolding blanket across the mountains and the deeper, denser fog of Washington that sits still enveloped by the forest fir's and maples.
