Deni Rayneau is an abstract expressionist Artist living and working in the Northern Beaches of Sydney Australia. She was born in Wellington, New Zealand as the youngest of 9 children. As the daughter of parents born and raised in India, it is easy to see where the influence and expression of colour was found. Deni has spent most of her adult life in Australia, where she has raised her 2 children.
A self-taught artist, Deni was a Graphic Designer and Art Director and had her own design and advertising company for over 20 years. The influence of graphic design in her compositions may easily be seen, however it is the freedom of expression that abstract painting gave her that saw her move to a fulltime Artist in 2019.
Deni works with mostly acrylic paint, overlaid with oil pastel, pencil, and ground pigments. Acrylics gives flexibility to painting fast and layering. Her favoured substrates are raw canvas and textured paper.
A self-proclaimed “messy artist” Deni’s studio in Brookvale, is a hub of creativity and colour and is often filled with beginning and emerging artists learning ways to let go and create with curiosity and freedom from outcome.
