A Little bit about me....Diana Worthy

My training background spans many years from Saturday morning Life drawing classes at Camberwell Art College in London as a 14 year old schoolgirl onto Art Foundation at Croydon , where my tutors included Bridget Riley and Barry Fantoni.
From there I did a Dip. AD course in 3D Mixed Media ( mostly ceramics ) at Loughborough College of Art and finally an MA post Graduate Degree at The Royal College of Art under David ( Lord ) Queensberry.
After graduating in 1969 I was offered freelance pottery designing positions in Kilkenny Design Workshops and Denby Pottery. Also at the same time I began lecturing at Wolverhampton Art College. Several years on in 1975 I was able to start up my own small ceramics workshop - Crich Pottery in Derbyshire.
With husband David the pottery was worked successfully for nearly 30 years, selling in places such as the British Craft Centre , Heals , Liberty's and many craft galleries across the UK , as well as exporting - most notably to Japan , Norway, USA , Germany, Italy and the UAE.

1962 -63 Croydon College of Art - Foundation Course in Fine Art

1963 -66 Loughborough College of Art
Three Dimensional design Dip A.D. (Ceramics)
Frank Denning Memorial Prize – Scholarship for travel around
Swedish, Danish and Finnish ceramic and glass factories and
Design workshops.

1966 -69 Royal College of Art – 3 year Post Graduate course in Three Dimensional materials – ceramics , glass , acrylics etc leading to M.Des RCA .

Third Year Memorial Prize for drawing.

1969 -71 Lecturer Grade 1 at Wolverhampton Polytechnic / Faculty of Art and Design / Foundation

1969 -70 Freelance designer for Kilkenny Workshops, Eire.

1969 -71 Freelance designer for Denby Pottery, Derbyshire, England.
1972 Left due to growing family and started working alone.
Techniques unsuited to large mechanised industry. Began to supply British Craft Centre, Heals and Liberty (London) on a regular basis, including several exhibitions at these places.

1975 Started Crich Pottery in farm buildings Crich, Derbyshire.
