Dimitry Schidlovsky

Oil painting and drawing is my passion. I have been a professional artist for over three decades working in virtually all media from traditional to digital. My portfolio ranges from contemporary abstract works to portraits.

I am currently focused on Metaspace, Observations a series of striking images steeped in ambiguity, with scale that can be perceived as vast or microscopic, as depicting either outer or inner spaces. These works meld organic and mechanical forms, and resonate with sound, movement and emotion. By evoking new dimensions and hidden worlds, the artist draws the viewer in and engages the imagination.

Combining abstract and realist genres to create a new form of expression, these observations reflect the artist's emphasis on the aesthetics and a direct, contemporary vision. The approach is anchored by mastery o0f draftsmanship, which lends coherence and synthesis to his explorations of "the eternal, dynamic universe of light, form, function, movement and time."

You can find me working in my gallery and studio in Sea Cliff, Long Island, NY. I also serve as a Professor of art at the State University of New York.
