I have been a creative person since as far back as my memory can take me…
As a small child, although I could not put it into words, I was aware of having a sensibility towards usually small, detailed, beautiful and natural things whether animate or inanimate.
I have always been curious and fascinated about art and nature, about patterns and textures, colours and shapes, about insects, plants, wood and stones and all that translated into an early interest in anything artistic: first by taking up drawing and painting and later through a free exploration of collage, mixed media and printing.
I define myself as a ‘collage artist, second-hand shop explorer, skip scavenger and finder of things’ who likes being inspired by other creative people whether they define themselves as artists, makers, artisans or creators. I find inspiration in Islamic, Japanese, Chinese and Persian arts, crafts and calligraphy, in geometric and abstract art, arte povera, pop art, comics, science fiction, typography, graphic design and advertising before computers, furniture and packaging design and in avant-garde movements like dadaism, surrealism, cubism, futurism and suprematism to name a few.
