Symmetrical shapes are the building blocks of my work. By cutting, stacking, grouping, and melting these forms a new, composite form is created. This form could also repeat itself, may or may not be mirrored or rotated in a different direction. These parts are often connected to the main mold again. This generally constitutes the largest mass and the core of the image.
My sculptures are about mass, one volume affecting another. Perhaps in contradiction with the term mass, my sculptures also show lightness and airiness. Airiness in standing, moving, and even in the sense that it seems as if the sculptures are inflated, blow-ups of small objects.
The most unsightly and everyday elements and shapes in my environment can give rise to a sculpture. Sometimes there are references to the human figure. The contrast in form is a stylistic device that I regularly use in my work. The geometry is as it were, seduced by the richness of decorative shapes from nature.
