A wide array of both synthetically & naturally occurring environments, and character types are explored in the works of Toronto-based Duncan Foy. The Canadian-born (1991) artist who studied Commercial Photography at Sheridan College of Art & Design is best known for his highly stylized & vividly rendered Fashion, Portrait, and Still Life photographs that both please the eye and subvert expectations. Extraordinary in their tonal range, colourful clarity and artistic vision, Foy’s thoughtfully choreographed scenes and character studies are enhanced by his precision use of other-worldly lighting techniques as well as his signature fluorescent manipulation of color inspired initially by his time spent wandering the neon soaked streets of Tokyo as an exchange student learning Japanese.
