Elcin Ekinci is a UK-based contemporary artist, with roots in Turkey, whose work focuses on human nature, layers of ontology, psychoanalysis, representation of bodypolitics and gender.
The body plays a major role in her practice, as a form of provocative beings, a field of deep memories, and a site for exploring body politics and body memory. These are organically shaped deformed figures that are originating from the personal and collective subconscious flow, gradually start to create themselves a form and body. She works in various mediums depending on the progress of the research.
Ekinci has exhibited widely in the United Kingdom, Turkey, Italy, and Russia. Her recent exhibitions include 8th Women In Art Prize (UK), Homiens ‘25 (UK), In and Entirely Out (Yazz Collective), Pandora's Black Box (Galata Greek School), Future and Past (4th Ural Biennale, Russia), Memory/Narration (Sabancı University Kasa Gallery), The Nature of Order (Daire Gallery), Mamut Art Project, When Ideas Become Crime (Depo Istanbul), Over the City (Gallery Famiglia Margini, Milan), Sculpture Selection (Rotary International, Italy), New Suggestions and New Propositions(Borusan Art Gallery), and Now (Odeabank).
