Elina Bitere

Elina's practice begins with an introspective consideration of her dreams, memories and self-analyses, which she then expands to the wider social, religious and political setting, searching for similarities and connections. She feels that it is important for her work to have meaning in a wider context so that viewers can engage with it. Elina's aim is to establish a connection with the audience and communicate her inner person and emotions. Her philosophical approach is similar to that of Marina Abramovic, who has been a major influence on Elina's work. They both engage the minds of viewers and move them to self-analysis. Elina also feels that her work is similar to that of Ana Mendiete, as they both provoke a deep empathetic response that forces people to re-examine their view of the world.

Elina uses a combination drawing, photography, performance, video or sculpture, depending on the project, to create installations. The combining of different mediums is intended to create a powerful impact on the viewer.
