Emmitt Smith

Emmitt grew up on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina and got his BFA in Studio Art from Georgia Southern University. He then went on to get his MFA in Studio Art from the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts (PAFA). After graduation, Emmitt worked at PAFA as the Assistant to the Chair of the MFA Program and he was also a Resident Critic in the MFA program for a year. As an artist, he uses a variety of media but is primarily a painter making densely layered images that are heavily influenced by travel ads, maps, Photoshop files and 19th Century American Landscape paintings.
