I am not a Western Artist, but rather an artist who paints the West. I have painted in Wyoming and Montana, Arizona and New Mexico, Colorado and Idaho. My work is in the permanent collections of The Booth Museum, Desert Caballeros Museum, Woodstock Artist Association and Museum, Rockwell Museum, and the Museum of Northern Arizona. My heroes are the post-impressionists of the last century and Georgia O'Keeffe.
I grew up with a paleontologist father who took his family out on digs in remote sites of the American West, especially Wyoming, looking for dinosaurs and fossils, so I grew to appreciate the land from early childhood. Every summer I return to find new "sights."
I try to capture the essence of place and time when I paint on site. I do not paint from photographs.
I use color to express my feelings about the land and how much I love it.
