Paul Minter

I was born in London but now live and work in the countryside in a pretty Cotswold Village.
I have painted in oils for about 15 years, and am now taking it seriously as a third career.
I have been taught traditional techniques at the Norfolk Painting School.
In my work I combine all that I have learned with contemporary ideas and paint the things that I love. Historic Interiors, Landscapes, Gardens and architecture. I have always taught design and painting alongside my other work but now have the opportunity to paint most of the time.

I studied at the Central School of Art in London (now Central St Martins) graduating in Theatre Design in the 1980s.
I had a twenty year career as a set and costume designer for amongst others, the BBC and RSC. I worked on a string of influential feature films and art house features for Sally Potter and Derek Jarman.
I then took a PGCE at the Institute of Education and worked as an art teacher, most recently as Head of Art at a prestigious Oxfordshire Prep School.

I have paintings in the up-and-coming Mercer Open Exhibition in Harrogate.
