American Oil Painter in Colorado, painting in the classic tradition, inspired by nature, perpetuating the virtues of beauty, goodness & truth.
Global travels of earlier days instilled in me a deep appreciation for old world beauty, art, and charm -- inspiring and informing all my work.
Painting began for me in childhood, for pleasure, gifts and my own decor. After a friend asked if she could purchase one of my paintings, then a professional artist friend asked if I'd paint her something, my painting career began.
I have a former life as a U.S. Air Force Public Affairs Officer and am now a military spouse at home assisting in the education of my four children.
While injury has stopped my distance running, I love to hike in the Rockies, walk on the Douglas County Open space, and cycle around the Front Range. I find refreshment and solace in the beauty, variety and life of the natural world.
My formal education is a B.S. in Political Science and minor in French from the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado, as well as education psychology at Harvard. I have no formal art education but have been painting since my youth and have long studied the masters at art museums for pleasure.
The most powerful elements of my education include:
- World Travel: Living in England for 3 years and otherwise traveling the world -- especially Europe, Israel, and parts of the Far East.
- Nature Study and Love: Being an outdoor adventurer who loves studying nature.
- Created to Create: Believing every human being is made in the image of the Creator and therefore destined to create in unique ways.
