Christian Z (Chriz) was born in 1970 and, since childhood, has breathed in the scent of ink, watching with curious eyes his father’s skilled work, enchanted by the magic of typography. His hands touched the wood of frames, the lead letters took shape under his fingers, while inside him grew the awareness that the written word was much more than a simple sign: it is expression, it is identity, it is communicative power.

Yet Chriz felt the need to go beyond the traditional use of typographic letters: he wished to explore their boundaries, to transform them into images.

Ten years ago, he began his artistic experimentation, which found its first complete expression in his debut collection, WORDS – Invisible Codes: a profound fusion of word and figuration, matter and imagination.

MY RESEARCH
My artistic research stems from a simple and radical question: what would the world be without words?

Without a name, things do not exist in the mind. The word is not merely a tool: it is origin. It is what renders real what we think.

From this reflection, my investigation takes shape: I explore language as the structure of identity, the trace of memory, the bridge between experience and thought.

The year 2025 marks for Chriz a season rich in events and prestigious international collaborations.
Opening the calendar was his participation in World Art Dubai (April 17–20), a fair that gathers some of the most compelling voices in the global contemporary art scene.

In the heart of summer, from August 1 to September 30, his works will be featured at the Nicoleta Gallery in Berlin, confirming the German scene’s interest in his research.

At the end of August, he will be engaged on two fronts: in London, at the Espacio Gallery (August 26 – September 6), and in Italy, during the Volterra Art Week (August 28 – September 2), where his dialogue with the public will be enriched with new insights and connections.

The exhibition journey will culminate in autumn, in Paris, from October 3 to 12, at the Parc André Citroën, in one of the most evocative venues dedicated to international contemporary art.
