My work is a constant journey through my growing awareness of social hierarchies within Greater London. I have been particularly compelled by pluralism, (the condition in which minority groups participate fully in the dominant society, yet maintain their cultural differences) and the confusing position I take within the society I have always lived. I consider myself a social chameleon, when I'm out networking attending some of the most prestigious venues in London no one would initially believe I live on a council estate and share my fenceless garden with the neighbours, who by the way, hold very little pride when it comes to the appearance of their home.
I have always used photographic documentation as a medium for capturing my observations, as well as using a variety of ready-mades such as bicycle wheels, carrier bags and shopping trolley handles to explore the makings of art, based on my observations. I have found the lower class areas more interesting to photograph, firstly because I am familiar with them and secondly because the environment constantly changes. Residents seem to use the landscape as a dumping ground for unwanted household commodities. I then use this evidence to draw upon the contrasts between the wealthier...
I completed my art and design foundation at London Metropolitan University, and went on to study Mixed Media Fine Art BA at University of Westminster.
