Frank Balbi Hansen

Venezuelan architect, specialising in the design of ephemeral structures and lighting.

Frank has been a portrait and documentary photographer for more than four decades. His early work, in black and white, depicts his hometown Caracas as the backdrop to Venezuelan society. It was exhibited at the 'Museo de Bellas Artes de Caracas', Venezuela, in 1983 at the '1st Show of Venezuelan Contemporary Photography'.

He currently has his studio in North London where he works on portrait, fashion, editorial, product and sports photography in parallel to developing his own art, photography and video projects. They include fashion, documentary, LGBT community and peace activism. In 2011, Frank's work was selected for the 'National Portrait Gallery Photographic Prize' exhibition.

Frank has developed his own style through exploration and experimentation with non-traditional working methods, focused on light and people.
