Ira Kurmaeva

Ira Kurmaeva was born in 1977 in Tbilisi, Georgia. She graduated from Yakob Nikoladze Art College, Tbilisi, Georgia and later earned her bachelor’s degree from Yakob Nikoladze Art University, Tbilisi, Georgia. Afterward, she worked as a teacher at the same Art College for several years. Initially involved in conceptual art and photography, she has returned in recent years to her deep-rooted passion for drawing.
“Inspiration is everywhere - in music, in a book I read, in childhood memories, or in the everyday little things. My paintings are stories about the emotions inside me. These emotions are like bright flashes in my head, begging to come out.”
