Isabelle Chartrand

My attraction to art dates back to my early childhood, surrounded by the arts of my maternal grandmother who practiced painting in the family home. I grew up in the countryside and nature will be my first source of inspiration and remains omnipresent in my works.

During my career, I decided to start a new series on the theme of portraiture only in oil. These are portraits of women who inspire me, women who have marked history. My goal is not necessarily the resemblance but rather what they evoke for me. However, we find a particular environment where nature will be present through elements chosen for their symbolism or their particular form that appeal to me. I am very happy to present this series to you.

I completed a Bachelor of Arts at the University of Quebec in Montreal. Then I taught children of all ages in public schools for several years. I now devote myself fully to my artistic creation.
