Manfred Lieber

In 1970 I began studying free painting at the Academy of Arts in Düsseldorf/Germany. It didn't take long for me to find out that life was too expensive to finance with just painting. Various jobs followed, in manual trades and gastronomy, as a driver and postman, or in sales. Painting, or art in general, was not out of focus. On the contrary, these jobs provided inspiration and also the freedom for creative, mostly intellectual debate. Another source was and is music - rock music and what's going on in this area. Some pieces just evoke emotions, others create images in the head because of their lyrics, and sometimes it all comes together. However, these thoughts fell on fertile ground, and now is the time to reap the rewards.
In the past, painting was done in the classic way with brushes and paint on different surfaces. Today, image processing programs are the brushes, the screen is the canvas, and the studio is the computer. And so today there is no longer just one original image, but several: the prints of the works, limited in small numbers.
