ABOUT THE ARTWORK

SHIPPING AND RETURNS

This picture was painted several years ago. I have kept it safe because I love the quality of the forest that it portrays. It is how I imagine the woods to be. Simple but deep and mysterious too. The picture was painted in watercolour inks and then completed using a calligraphy black ink pen.

My history as an Artist dates back to childhood, being handed wodge loads of colored A4 printing paper with colored pens by my Dad. Like most children as soon as I learnt to hold a pencil I was off. My parents supported this playful space that I and my sister loved to experience. Eventually my younger brother joined in. By eleven I had painted a picture of a tiger that reached exhibition standard at the Royal Academy. Art continued to be my first love throughout school. At college I obtained a distinction for my Art main, in graphics and design, during my training to become an Art teacher. At Exeter University I study for a Masters in Creative Education, at Bicton College, a foundation in Environmental Art. Not being trained specifically for an Art degree I have managed to stay out of the perceived concepts of the day. Being a teacher also led me to illustrate and write books for children to launch their lifetime as a reader. Throughout my life I have painted drawn and pursued all manner of crafts. One breakthrough experience was attending the master classes of Patrick Jones, who taught me how to appreciate the use of color and the painting techniques of abstract art. Bringing that back to more figurative and graphic designs enhanced the quality of color effects in all my pictures and led me to appreciate the consequences of the colors I chose. From here, following my other qualifications in psychology and Gestalt Therapy I began to look into chakras and run courses on the effects of the seven main colour energies. This has led to books on the subject available at and several chakra mandalas available for sale on this site. Asked how or why I continue to produce Artworks, I would say simple that it is because it gives me pleasure. The experience of expressing myself through Art and creating things of beauty that other people are affected by is probably, bar bringing up three lovely children, the most joyous experience of my life.
