Hello, I'm Natalie Strohmaier, a concept-based photographer from Munich. My professional path led me from architectural design to set design for moving images, and ultimately to still photography — a medium through which I explore everyday themes shaped by society. I enjoy discovering subtle details upon longer observation — a kind of "second glance" — and I’m pleased when my images evoke that same moment of recognition in others. Staged photography is the ideal means for me to make aspects of everyday culture visible through a deliberately constructed visual language. I’m interested in how visual aesthetics can be both appealing and unsettling at the same time, encouraging closer inspection. My images play with visual shifts that open up new interpretations. Each of my series develops its own visual language — sometimes inspired by historical imagery, sometimes iconically stylized, but always grounded in a strong conceptual framework.
