ABOUT
L. Robert Westeen is originally from Wausau, Wisconsin and relocated to Houston, Texas in 2001. His art studies began in high school where he was one of five students to work in the International Baccalaureate program focused specifically on art. He is an active member of Visual AIDS of NYC and is a recipient of a 2013 Visual AIDS artists grant. In 2012, his piece "Nude in Blue"' was shown as a part of an exhibit with Visual AIDS at the Leslie-Lohman Museum of Gay and Lesbian Art as part of an exhibit entitled 'Uncensored: Queer Art and the Church." Also in 2012, his piece "Comfort in Two" was included as a part of Visual AIDS "Postcards from the Edge" at the Cheim & Read Gallery, New York, NY. He opened his first solo show in December of 2013 titled "What Now?" at the Houston Art Institute.
