Carolin Zibulka

My name is Carolin Zibulka, and I create wall-mounted glass sculptures using a unique technique I call Lavacoating– an artistic method I developed from a craft passed down to me by my father. Each piece is composed of meticulously layered materials on the reverse side of glass, allowing every layer to dry for at least 24 hours before being sealed with resin. Only when the glass is turned over does the final artwork reveal itself – a moment of revelation and surprise that gives each sculpture its own identity. This process results in vivid structures that evoke the organic flow of lava – deep textures, vibrant color gradients, and a striking sense of motion. My work is shaped by an intuitive approach, yet anchored in craftsmanship and precision.

What fascinates me most is the dialogue that unfolds between the artwork and the viewer. I don’t aim to prescribe meaning – rather, I invite personal interpretation. Each sculpture becomes a mirror for memories, emotions, and imagination. Through this open-ended quality, I strive to create not just objects of aesthetic beauty, but spaces for quiet contemplation and connection.
