Garima Lohiya

Garima Lohiya, a contemporary self taught artist based in Nagpur , India. She uses the concept of Prosopopoeia. The artworks are rhetorical devices used to convey and evoke emotional response from the viewer. Content of the artworks are a result of Prosopopoeia which translates to shifting the point of view to inanimate objects portraying emotions of a human nature. A clever combination of Ethos , Pathos and Logos help carry the message of the art to the viewers which strikes a visual narrative taking the viewers to another cosmos of inner feelings residing inside them.

The artist has forged a distinctive visual language through radical experimentation with materials and techniques in her paintings. While she uses a variety of materials and processes in each project the methodology is consistent. Also in the absence of material similarities amongst various projects, they are linked by subject matter reflecting Prosopopoeia.

Every project consists of multiple works twinkled around specific themes. Progressing through research and brushing of paint, new areas of interest arise and lead to the next body of work.
