QUARTEY NII KWATEI ABABIO WILLIAM also known as Wil Quartz was born in Tema in the Greater Accra region in the of year 1997. He began his art and sketch at the age of five. He rose from statewide to nationwide fame by winning top prize in the Art Quiz Competition and in Global Art Competition for his school, (Ghana Senior High in the year 2016).
His works feature scene from nature, social, entertainment and culture values. His currently self-employed person who is mostly based on doing Pop art, Canvas Painting, Street Art (Ground Art) and Graffiti art in mixed media format. His work produces visual scenes and converting it into painting which result in understanding and beautiful images. While he used a variety of materials and processes in each project, His methodology is constant.
He describes his style of painting as Impasto, Afro Pop Art, 3D Art and illusion art, Abstract in figurative drawing. He part take in Black Art street festival (BASFEST) at Tema, Yoyo tinz festival at labadi, Jawuley Art Festival at Sekondi/Takoradi, Chaskele Art festival at Tema, Afrochella, Tasdidi, Calabash Color festival and Chalewote Festivals.
He also had his solo exhibition at British Council Accra. And also group exhibition at thiea. Nominated for GACA awards as Discovery Artist of year 2019, Artwork of ‘Black Sherif’ opening performances at the 23rd VGMA 2022. Backdrop for Calabash festival 2023- date.
