Hyun is a visual artist living and working in London. Born in South Korea, she has been based in the United Kingdom since 2012. Her earlier career was in design, a field that shaped her sensitivity to structure, rhythm and the quiet logic of materials.
Her transition into fine art began during the pandemic, a period in which making work every day became a way to slow down, observe and think clearly. What began as an instinctive response grew into a new direction for her life and practice. Since then, she has focused on developing an abstract language that continues to evolve with each project.
Her current body of work, Rooted. Alive., takes the invisible energy of trees as its starting point. The series attempts to give form to what cannot be seen — the force that moves through living things beneath the surface. With each new stage, the work expands outward, finding new ways to trace that energy across different materials and scales.
