John French

I was born in Santa Fe, New Mexico way back in 1970. When I was three years old, I watched my aunt draw a picture of me, and I've been hooked since. I was an Air Force brat, and spent four years of my youth in Italy while my Dad was stationed there; many of my formative years were spent viewing the art and architecture of the Renaissance.

After our European Tour we moved to the remote, beautiful Upper Peninsula of Michigan. I studied art with Bill Alexander, and Dr. Thomas Capuccio at Northern Michigan University. In the mid-1990s, I began painting the dramatic landscapes and waterscapes of the Great Lakes area.

My heart has always belonged in New Mexico. I visit as often as I can, and each trip renews my awe and enchantment with the Southwest landscape! I love to paint the amazing places I experience when I travel, and few places are as amazing and as inspiring as my home state, New Mexico.

Since 2001, I've been represented by The Moonshine Art Gallery in Michigamme,MI There, I've been part of several successful multi-artist shows since 2009.

In 2009 through 2011 I showed and sold my work at The Outback Art Fair in Marquette, MI.
