In our image saturated digital culture I believe that it is necessary to ask questions regarding the validity and function of the contemporary photograph. Primarily my work explores and exploits preconceived notions of photographic ‘realities’ and asks if the photographic image can effectively hold on to meaning and authenticity when engulfed by the deluge of digital imagery created and distributed daily via the world wide web. More recently my works are beginning to touch upon aspects of loss. Whilst the tone of these images may appear to be more melancholic and mournful I aim to explore the wider sense of loss in context of the current frenzy of digital automation and image dissemination.
I am currently one of the Artists in Residence at the University of Wolverhampton for the academic year 2015-2016.
M.A. Fine Art (Distinction), Birmingham City University, 2001.
B.A. (Hons) Fine Art (First Class), Nottingham Trent University, 1996.
BTEC Foundation Diploma in Art and Design (Distinction), Walsall College of Art, 1993.
As an artist I have exhibited both regionally and nationally including selection for Zealous X Festival 2016, The Oriel Open 2014, Oriel Davis, Wales and FAB Art 2013 at UCA, Farnham, which also toured to Tokyo (JCFL, Shinjuku) in March 2014.
