Uladzimir Urodnich is a contemporary Belarusian artist. He is an honored artist of the Republic of Belarus and head of the Traditsiya Art Collective. He works in easel painting, and he follows in the traditions of realism and socialist realism. He works in the genres of story-based and thematic painting, landscapes, portraits, and still lifes. The natural world of Belarus represents a truly inexhaustible source of inspiration for Uladzimir. The artist likes to depict endlessly unfolding planes and landscapes with an open horizon. It is through these visual themes that the artist seeks to uncover the larger-scale image of Belarus that is fraught with dramatic tension. A native village with a unique array of rambling country roads and piles of firewood, a portrait of a milkmaid or the dead body of a soldier in an overgrown thistle field are not just fleeting moments from the life of the country. Rather, they reveal the artist’s pronounced attitude to what he is depicting.
