Simona Calin

I am a self-taught fine art portrait and landscape Romanian photographer who currently is living in the United States.
As an immigrant, it wasn't easy to adapt to the new environment. Photography came into my life like a tool that helped me to cope with loneliness, homesickness, anxiety, and fears and it made me want to express these emotions through images. Not only photography became a language with which I could communicate to people, but with myself. Because of my theatre background and because of self-exploring, I am "playing" some of the characters in my photographs.
To create my art, I'm interested in storytelling that consists of strong emotions. I'm passionate about beauty, darkness, loneliness, death, passion, life, and I use symbolism, my personal experiences, and imagination to create meaningful images.
