I began sculpting stone in 2004 and have exhibited in many galleries in California. In 2008 I had the unique experience of sculpting in Pietrasanta, Italy, where Michelangelo once lived, sculpted and quarried marble in the surrounding mountains.
In 2013 I first attended California Sculptors Symposium in Cambria and was awarded First Place for The Dancer (sold).
Sculpting is a complex and organic process which involves much contemplation at all stages, as well as trust, patience, intuition and surrender as the stone reveals itself and a form begins to materialize.
It is my goal that people discover the wonder of stone and to know its textures, sensuality and strength. Each sculpture is unique in design, color, statement and possible interpretations. It is a gift to work with nature's vibrant energy of possibility and it is my intention, through sculpting, to celebrate passion, strength, grace and tranquility and to bring beauty into the world.
My life experiences influence and contribute to the person I am today. After graduating from U.S.C. I was a school teacher, followed by various positions in film production. I was a staff member of Esalen Institute in Big Sur and later owned and operated a Honda Dealership in Van Nuys, California for 14 years. It was after selling my business when I discovered stone sculpting and have been committed to my art since then. I have worked with inspiring teachers and actively expanded my knowledge as well as my participation in the art community.
