B. 1969, Fu Chong is a self-taught artist based in Shanghai, China. He is renowned nationally for his iconic pattern of puzzles in 3 primary colors.
Painting has been a passion of Fu Chong ever since he was a child. But he had to put down his paintbrush in the mid-1990s' due to some other commitment in his life. Fortunately enough, influenced by one of his neighbors, a late famous Chinese painter, he was able to pick up his brush again and became a full time painting artist since 2018.
The inspiration of his iconic jigsaw puzzle textures came from a view woven with sunlight and leaves of the London plane trees, when sneakily cycling on an empty street around the French Concession in Shanghai one day during the COVID-19 lockdown in April, 2022. He spent more than 6 months in finishing his experimental piece of work with this new expressing artistic form.
Carrying the emotional weight of the moment when painting, Fu Chong uses the 3 primary colors of RED, YELLOW and BLUE combined with his unique techniques to create masterpieces, which are very expressive and metaphorical.
