By carving from a lack of a definitive origin, I use fluid and static mediums to evoke the feeling of uncertainty and create a space of ever-lasting liminality; a tactile feeling that happens in an ephemeral space. The vibrant colors and intuitive strokes appear to naturally exist within the canvas, which is disturbed by methodical marks and textures emanating from my architectural studies.
The underlying themes of my work are rooted in the interstitial qualities of liminality and constantly reference inclusion, intimacy and the curious celebration of human differences. The work reflects an additive process of layering to create the whole or the true; a theoretical sequence that contrasts with my approach to life, which is a subtraction of these layers to reveal the beautiful. Understanding the dialect between the part and the whole is a powerful tool against xenophobia and boredom.
