Teresa Pereira

Teresa Pereira is a painter, high school art teacher, graphic designer, and muralist who lives in Yonkers, NY. She graduated from Fordham University, College at Lincoln Center, with a BFA in Fine Arts, where she was awarded the Studio Art Award for painting.

She’s also a community art teacher, and holds art workshops in local libraries and for the Hudson River Museum. In addition, she’s an active art exhibitor in galleries in the Westchester area and its surrounds, and has had work exhibited in The Riverfont Gallery and Urban Studio Unbound in Yonkers, The Carriage Barns Art Center in New Canaan, The Gallery at Helen Hayes Hospital in West Haverstraw, and the Edward Hopper House in Nyack, to name a few.

In teaching art over the years—especially to teenagers—she has learned a great deal about her own art. Witnessing the experience of “learning to make art” is continually an eye opening one, and she believes it has helped her expand her own skills.

Her style is highly figurative and realistic, but often with a slight to moderate hint of surrealism mixed in. She equally enjoys painting landscapes, portraits and still life—from life whenever possible, but also from photos. A lover of nature, her work often incorporates some botanic...
