I was walking in San Anselmo, Ca when I came across this amazing tree which cast a blue and green shadow on a stucco house. This was all reflected in a car parked in front. The gnarly tree and its dramatic shadows produced this dynamic affect that I had to capture in oils.

I was born in Ross, California. I have been a painter and printmaker for over 30 years.
My paintings are inspired by photos that Ive taken over the years. From my travels, my daughter, experiences and moods, these images are starting points of discovery. Dimensions change, colors are altered, shadows are deepened, edges can be softened or sharpened and compositions arise from these elements. There is always a singular feeling that motivates the painting. I have come to respect these sensations, letting theme guide me through the process. Non-animate objects can arouse sentiments as strong as personal subjects. Movement is very important to me, the eye moving over the canvas, capturing the light and pulsing of shapes. Each painting is a story to investigate. My job is to begin the story, allowing the viewer to take it to the next step.
