Alfredo Santesteban Alsante

I was born in Argentina and moved to America in 1966 with an M.D. degree. After 34 yr of a pediatric practice I retired and dedicated myself full time to the visual arts.
I'm pretty much a self-taught artist
My current interest are in abstract art with an impressionistic bend. I use most materials and tools, such as acrylic, oil paints, pencil, charcoal and some photography. I like to paint with bright, happy colors and unusual themes sometimes. I favor controlled but dynamic, sweeping brushstrokes.
I belong to several art organizations and have won several awards in competitions.

Although I took art lessons during my childhood, I'm mostly a self-taught visual artist. One unusual habit of mine is to doodle. When I was practicing pediatrics, I was constantly doodling while advising my patients' parents over the phone.
During my youthful years my time was spent in regular education and then medical school.
Even then, I suspected that some day when other obligations would cease I'd be an artist.
