Karine WAGENER is a French painter who was born in Paris, and works there in her studio. In her very close portraits , still lives, or landscapes, with bright, immediate forms, the artist poses flat areas of bright colors that collide, free, bold, sometimes biting or sour. Although she often starts from photographs, she recomposes the frame to its own way and metamorphoses them through the sensuality of the oil. She then moves away from the glossy paper and advertising posters to fit into the portrait painting tradition. From the bottom of the child's or woman's eyes staring the spectator, comes a mysterious innocence, a certain dreamlike, distant happiness, it's a hymn to feminity and glamour in all its forms, in all its nuances. Her work is held in private collections across the world.
