Breaking an existing structure and creating a new one, that seems to be the driving force behind my work.
Structure, fragmentation, repetition. Images seem solid, but delicate. Forms are material, but spiritual too. My images can seem quiet and still, but they are full of life. Lines, surfaces, colors interact to create harmony and equilibrium, a new structure in chaos.
I love vibrant, optimistic colors. Sensuous, saturated colors. My paintings combine realistic imagery with abstract patterns. I enjoy playing with the layering of different visual textures and different patterns that break forms and create new ones. Andrea De Luigi (b.1962, Argentina), SCAD Painting M.F.A. candidate (2023) received her B.A. in Psychology from Buenos Aires University. She studied art with Argentine masters Kenneth Kemble and Guillermo Roux. De Luigi creates multilayered compositions on large canvasses, paper or wood, where she interweaves painting, printmaking and collage, in a kind of playful tension of abstracted imagery. Her works nod to psychological complexities by the breaking of forms and by disjointed dynamisms in harmonious layers of elaborate symbolic elements.
De Luigi has exhibited her work in solo and group exhibitions internationally, and participated in international fairs including Parallax Art Fair, London, UK, ArtExpo International, NY, USA; Kunst Odaagse Fair, Bergen, Holland; Expoart Montreal, Canada; ARWI Fair, San Juan, Puerto Rico, FIA (International Caracas Fair), Arte BA, Buenos Aires, Argentina, Museum of Latin American Art, Maldonado, Uruguay; Fundacao Memorial de America Latina, Sao Paulo, Brazil; Fortaleza San Juan de Ulúa, Veracruz, Mexico. She has received awards including 1st place, Salón de Otoño Roberto Di Paolo, 2nd place, Salón Anual de Pintura Asociación Española de San Isidro, 2nd place, Salón Tarbut, Buenos Aires, Argenti...
