Julia Swanepoel Pepler, was born in Cape Town in 1964.
She currently lives and works in Cape Town.
In 1986, she graduated with a BAFA Degree at Michaelis Art School. University Of Cape Town.
Julia, majored in painting.
In 1987, she painted on a post graduate level and attended lecturers at The Byam Shaw Art School, London.
In December 1988, Julia graduated with a post graduate Advanced Diploma in painting at Michaelis, University Of Cape Town.
Julia, has exhibited extensively in contemporary design shows in South Africa.
Currently, she designs contemporary bespoke rugs which are manufactured in India.
Julia, has had her paintings included in “The Cape Town Art Fair” and numerous important group shows at the Smith Gallery, Barnard Gallery and Circa/ Everard Read Gallery in Cape Town.
At present she is working on “Aerial Landscapes” using oil, acrylic and inks on canvas and paper and designing bespoke contemporary hand knotted and tufted rugs.

July 1986 Painted at the Bill Ainsley Art Foundation, Johannesburg.
1987 Painted on a post graduate level and attended lectures at the Byam Shaw

December 1988 Graduated with a post graduate Advanced Diploma in Painting at Michaelis, University of Cape Town.
June 1980 - Exhibited in a group show at Gallery 88, Sasolburg.
March 1990 - Selected to exhibit paintings for the Volkskas Atelier Exhibition, at The
Association of Visual Arts, Cape Town.
This show then travelled to The Everard Read Gallery in Johannesburg.
May 1990 - Three-person-exhibition at The Gallery on the Market, Johannesburg.
December 1990 - Participated in the group show “Colourful and Contemporary” at the Baxter
Gallery, Cape Town.
April 1991 - Selected to exhibit paintings for the Volkskas Atelier Exhibition, at The
Association of Visual Arts, Cape Town.
March 1992 Exhibited at the Karin Haag Galerie in Vienna, Austria.
November 1992 Participated in the “Useful Art” group show at the ICA Gallery,
Johannesburg.
December 1992 Participated in “The Cape Town Art Festival” group exhibition at The Dock Road Venue, Waterfront in Cape Town.
January 1993 Paintings shown at Gallery 88, Sasolburg.
February 1993 Participated in the group Aids show “How safe sex can be good sex”, at the
