Jessica Orchowitz

My work exists at the intersection of emotion, intuition, and form – a visual language born from the unseen yet deeply felt. As a contemporary abstract expressionist, I use painting as a means to explore the soul: its depth, contradictions, beauty, and raw energy. Through intuitive motion and color, I aim to capture what words often can’t express.

Having synesthesia, my sensory experiences are deeply intertwined – feeling, sound and color bleed into one another, inspiring each hue or stroke as a translation of felt experience. While I primarily work in acrylic, oil, charcoal and gouache are used to create layers and allow an organic evolution of the work at hand.

Themes of duality – light and dark, the form and formlessness, clarity and chaos – are central to my current practice. I’m drawn to the idea that life can reside without definition; that in abandoning fear and embracing the harmony of our multi-faceted lives we can evoke presence and tap into what is both real and undefinable.

In this way, my work invites a conversation — between the painting and the soul, between what is seen and what is felt.

Self-taught, as well as Art and Art History studies through Towson University.
