Essam Ezzat Abdel Gawad was born in Cairo in 1966 and later moved to Alexandria.
He works as a university professor at the Faculty of Fine Arts, Alexandria University.
Specializing in sculpture, he explores natural elements through a distinctive artistic vision that harmonizes mass and void with sensitivity and balance. His work incorporates pre-manufactured metal materials, among other mediums, to create innovative and distinguished artistic pieces.
I studied for five years at the Faculty of Fine Arts, Alexandria University, and graduated in 1990 with a distinction in the field of sculpture.
I obtained a master's degree in mold-based reproduction in sculpture and a PhD in structural frameworks in sculpture.
I have participated in 62 university, professional, and local exhibitions, including:
- The 20th edition of the Alexandria International Biennale
- The 2nd edition of the Cairo International Ceramics Biennale
- An exhibition in Rome, Italy (1996)
- An exhibition at the Faculty of Fine Arts, Alexandria University (2012)
- An exhibition at the Syndicate of Fine Artists (2009)
- An exhibition in Cairo (2017)
My works are part of private collections, as well as institutional collections at the Egyptian Ministry of Culture and the Bibliotheca Alexandrina. Additionally, my artworks can be found in Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, and the United States.
I have received three awards:
- Two national awards
- One international award
