‘‘ I am an artist and metal sculptor. My sculptures are crafted in steel, and also in brass, aluminum, and copper. I like to test different ways of manipulating metals to create shapes that come from my observation of reality or that express a thought, that reflect a memory. A lot of my work happens between the hammer and the anvil. Through hammering, the shapes of my sculptures develop and transform into thoughts through the material. I hammer the steel sheet cold and hot based on the need for the shape I want to create. I love the forge and the atmosphere that is created around its tradition, the heat, the glowing spectrum of red, yellow and orange color, the smell. Welding is my routine and joining two metal parts by welding is one of the satisfying and enlightening things, an almost meditative process that requires calm and dedication, and the patience to observe the behavior of the liquefied metal. Sanding and polishing allows you to obtain amazing effects.

Bruna D'Alessandro is a sculptor whose work has been exhibited internationally, including at the Center for Metal Arts (PA), the Museum of the Central Institute of Graphic (Rome), Ki Smith Gallery, The Border Project Space, SLA Art Space, and in NYC's 132nd Street Community Garden. Her residencies include The Steel Yard, Franconia Sculpture Park (2022), and Salem Art Works (2019, 2021). In 2020, she co-founded The Artist Gardener NYC, a public art initiative revitalizing community gardens through exhibitions, art activities, and education. Her work has been featured in Whitehot Magazine of Contemporary Art, Cultbytes, FAD Magazine, and The Anvil’s Ring. Her public sculpture The Acorn is currently on view at Franconia Sculpture Park (MN). In 2025, she will exhibit at The Metal Museum (TN) and the Kentucky Museum (KY)
