Onix Rodriguez

I am a Latino artist from Puerto Rico living in San Antonio Texas. Currently I manage my day job and studio time separately and am thankful for the space, resources and community of artists I have come to know through out the years.

My recent work comes primarily in painting and drawing form, depicting abstract line work that plays with color and composition. Paintings are influenced by collages and drawings, and vise-versa.

An occurring element is an overlap of patterns and the burying of layers. This is an effort to create contrast and an edge to the overall image. I am not afraid to paint over or cover layers, images, or older paintings in general. I believe every layer covered, although unseen, contributes, and is essential, to the finished image.

I hope my colorful and rhythmic work can find a place, bring joy, and add a POP to anyones home.
