Mark Zanni

My paintings are very accessible and may be seen as cartoonish, humorous and garish. My work is also conceptual, figurative and a tad bit surrealistic. Think Rene Magritte + Walt Disney + Otto Dix.

I paint to reflect on and share my perspective on our temporal world - identifying the absurdity that I see in life, while attempting to do so without pretense. I strive to tell a story with each of my paintings. However, the meaning of these stories is always open for interpretation by the viewer. My paintings are not hospital art, they attempt to draw attention and spur discussion.

I work almost exclusively in oil and feel that while the subjects for my paintings are diverse; humor and satire are ever present and are driving forces in my work.
