Mykola Kaftan's sculptural work is a dialog between material and sensations. The author doesn't copy this world, but opens the door to another one, doesn't just create forms, but inhabits them with feelings and thoughts that have escaped from inside to outside in search of meaning, God and himself.
The different materials that the sculptor combines are like voices in a single choir - some speak of strength, others of fragility, and others of conflict and harmony. A tree that was once alive, a stone that has seen centuries, metal that burned in the flame, epoxy that catches moments speaking to the viewer and evoking reflection. A separate strong voice is the light, which makes it possible to see more than at first glance.
Crossroads of thoughts, emotions, questions - sculptures are like open books in which you can “read” what is hidden inside us. They don't give direct answers, but they don't leave you untouched either. Because true art doesn't explain - it makes you ask questions and feel, opens up space for interpretation.
The author is infinitely fascinated by the world of fauna. The animals in his sculptures are not just images, but a captured moment of their existence. They seem to be frozen in time, frozen only for a momen...
