The fulcrum in my work is the dichotomy between current scientific trends and how they apply to history. I consider my paintings views through a microscope where one can see pattern and information such as pre-Aramaic text and symbolism. I choose colors based on a Pythagorean tuning scale and the geometric shapes I select are designs that can be folded in on themselves to create 3-dimensional polyhedra such as Platonic solids.
The paintings are started on the ground where the canvas is washed, stained, scrubbed and scraped to achieve depth of space. Paint is then applied in washes, mixed with sand, and in some cases directly applied from the tube.
I received my degree from Boston University and taught classical figure drawing, painting, and sculpture at a fine arts studio in New York. I launched a commercial photography career in 2007, and am a recent transplant from Brooklyn to Denver.
