When I was a child my granddad Ivan taught me to play violin. His violin was antique. Granddad was a musician and an artist. He painted with oil on anything he could find: tablecloth, old linen. At his place, in a room on the floor laid the carpet he painted the picture on. That was a copy of Briullov’s “The last day of Pompeii”. I still can’t forget it.
My dad Vladimir Vlasik was a professional artist, painter. Dad died very early, I was less than a year old baby. Still I have his wonderful paintings, landscapes and still-lifes, in our family collection.
I was brought up by my mom Vera. Sunny person who loves people and life. I owe her everything.
What does creativeness stand for? That is life as well - just the other form. Without work in a studio I begin to fade and get sick. Luckily, I meet understanding at home. And I feel gratitude to my family for this.
I am anxious of connection between national traditions and modern culture. Therefore I often use mixed media techniques, combine weaving, tapestry, ceramics, sewing.
I don’t afraid of anything in my work. Just continue doing it.
